Adopted by A Sweetheart of A Stray Kitty

IT HAS BEEN an interesting few days at the Pine Point Cabin, as we have been adopted by a sweetheart of a stray kitty. Probably 9 or 10 months old, he called for my attention out of the dark woods one very cold and snowy night. When I answered, he came out of the shadows and rolled on the ground, then rubbed on my leg, begging to be picked up. Which I did.

He was very cold and hungry. So we took him into the garage, fed and watered him, turned on a heater, and left the door open a crack so he could come and go. He was needy and affectionate, but almost beside himself with anxiety.

In the morning he was still there, curled up on the old couch, and the anxiety was gone. Just purring, and cuddles and affection, and eating, eating, eating. Over the next 4 days he has cuddled us to death, making plain that he has adopted us, whatever our intentions. We have put out announcements and emails, to no effect. We suspect he was dumped on a roadside, but no way of knowing. What we do know is that he is black and silky and green-eyed and gorgeous, trusting and loving. And he feels safe. He has now been to the vet and had his shots. Still no official name. ‘Lucky’ comes to mind. And still no official decision on the future. Well, on our part…
