On October 22nd 1989 a masked gunman appeared on a roadway near St. Joseph, Minnesota and abducted Jacob Wetterling.  In the days that followed the search for Jacob was an outpouring of love and support from the community.  At the time one of  Douglas Wood’s sons was the same age as Jacob. “We could not imagine what his family was going through,” says Doug.  “One afternoon I volunteered to help hang posters and assist with anything I could. Near the end of the day,  Jacob’s dad Jerry came and thanked all of the volunteers for their time and efforts.  At the end of his thank you he mentioned the phrase ‘Jacob’s Hope’.  Within minutes a song was writing itself in the back of my mind.  I went home that night, put pen to paper and finished this song.

“Since that experience of having a beautiful young person taken from our community I have been passionate about supporting the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.  May I encourage you to help support them too.”
