Day Trip to Ellsworth Rock Gardens

YESTERDAY KATHY AND I TOOK A VOYAGEUR PARK DAY TRIP to the fabulous Ellsworth Rock Gardens, the Stonehenge of Kabetogama. Built singlehandedly by Jack Ellsworth from the 1940s to the 1960s, they are a glorious testament to one man’s vision and hard work, blending the wild North Woods with the human spirit. The terraced gardens once contained 13,000 lilies and many other species. The Park is now actively restoring the site. I first visited in the early 1960s with my family. Great to return. A glorious day in a glorious place.
