DURING WINTER HERE IN THE PINE POINT WOODS, the day begins with a short walk out to the carriage-house garage to check on the bonsais.

Temperature, light, moisture. Their little booth is kept between 32-40 degrees, and the watering can is that temp as well. They seem well and happy in their winter dormancy. Back in the cabin office I have two warm-climate trees, orchids and hyacinths (gifts from Kathy) which make a lovely corner garden. Meanwhile, the big trees outdoors seem happy as well…
