I KNOW A LITTLE SOMETHING about reflecting waters. I have paddled over them all my life, from Lake Superior to the Northwest Territories–literally scores of trips upon clear waters reflecting blue skies and starry nights. I am not an expert on ‘reflecting pools’, unlike our current *president. But it seems his pool has a few problems. The main one is… it perfectly reflects exactly who and what he is. No, it’s not blue. No, it’s not clear. No, it doesn’t reflect the sky anymore. But wow–does it ever reflect The Creature and his administration. To wit:
Fix a ‘problem’ that doesn’t exist.
Make a BIG DEAL out of it.
Say that your predecessors caused the non-existent problem.
Say only you can fix it.
Ignore all experts or any one who knows anything about it.
Hire idiots to fix the ‘problem’ and do the work.
Make sure said idiots are your own personal friends or neighbors.
And donors.
Make sure they are awarded no-bid contracts, wildly inflated.
So that grifting is not only possible but encouraged.
Do slap-dash, crappy, unprofessional work.
So that it begins to undo itself in days.
Create a green, smelly, peeling mess.
Deny. Say everything is ‘beautiful’ and ‘perfect.’
Say someone else caused the problem.
Invent weird new schemes and treatments to cure the patient.
Like injecting bleach into the bloodstream–no, wait a minute.
Hydrogen-peroxide and ‘nano–bubblers’. (I kid you not.)
Claim the problem is fixed and everything is, once again, perfect.
Finally admit it’s not perfect.
Blame passers-by and ‘Dumocrats.’
And ‘radical leftists who hate our country.’
Promise severe legal consequences.
Start arresting bicyclists and Olympians and dog-walkers and curious people who wanted to touch the weird stuff floating in THEIR national reflecting pool.
Blame EVERYONE in the known universe you can possibly blame.
Except the grifting idiots who did the work.
And the Creature who hired them.
There. That’s what the reflecting pool reflects. Buffoonery. Idiocy. Ignorance. Irresponsibility. Grift. Corruption. Incompetence times ten. I guess it’s a pretty good ‘reflecting pool’ after all.
