Inspiration from the Ashes

WE AT THE CHURCH O’ THE PINES ARE GREATLY SADDENED to learn of the awful fire that has ravaged the Cathedral of Notre Dame. I often feel a parallel between groves of tall trees and the great cathedrals, though I am not entirely sure if it is the tall trees that remind me of the great cathedrals, or the tall cathedrals that remind me of the great trees. It is likely both.

In any case, there are too few sacred spaces of inspiration in the world, and it is heartbreaking to see their destruction. It appears firefighters and many fervent prayers were able to save much of the structure, and we look forward to the day when it soars into the sky once more—as it has for 800 years—inspiring hearts and spirits to take flight.
