HERE AT THE CHURCH O’ THE PINES, it is a beautiful morning. We have mentioned frequently over the last few months the progress of our Eagle Family, who built a fine nest just a hundred feet or so from the cabin. This past week one baby fledged, and now soars over the yard and, last evening, decided to roost right over the back door, as seen here. Very handsome! Or beautiful. Or both. Eaglet Two is still in the nest, spreading wings, hopping about, screeching, and daily making bold proclamations. “Today I’m gonna do it. I am! I am! I am gonna fly! I’m gonna take off! Here I go!” He hasn’t quite done it yet.
