Quilt of Snow

Quilt of Snow

TODAY AT THE CHURCH O’ THE PINES, all things rest under a quilt of snow. It is a reminder that hardship is often accompanied by beauty. Squirrels bound along, leaving tracks in their wake. The Pileated Woodpecker flashes through the woods, a streak of red and black and white. The Pine Siskins have a one word, hymn, as always–“Sweeeeeet?” The Chickadees sing, “Tickle-ee-doo. Tickle-ee-dee!”

The caretaker plans to go out and gently push a bit of snow off the deck–no lifting–mindful of some recent health concerns. But it is good to stand under the big pines, their limbs persistently reaching toward heaven. It is a pleasure to breathe in the good tidings of the trees, and listen to the music of the Church Choir. Blessings abound, as they always do at our little neighborhood chapel.

Our congregation wishes you Good Sabbath…
