ARRIVING HOME

ARRIVING HOME from my last Road Scholar trip of the season (they were all great!) I found this monster parked by the cabin. I knew what was up. The old (94 years?) chimney has been leaking and needed to be redone. ‘Tuckpointing’ it is called. Lots of new mortar, a whole new cap, etc. It is not easy to find folks who do such work anymore. But we found a good one in Terry Pogatchnik out of nearby Rice, MN. Working with his daughter Maya. They are nearly done. And the old chimney looks great. I told him so. ‘Yeah, it might even work,’ said Terry. ‘Well, that would be even better!’ said I. It’ll work. No more leaks. More pix to come…
