IT IS THE TIME of year when bonsais are brought in to their winter quarters, and concurrently the orchids begin to bloom once more. They brighten my office, and little Paddy, onetime woodland waif, doesn’t seem to mind sharing the space. He brightens the office, too.

SO ON FAWN ISLAND, home of Koda, Simon, and Paddy, we now have a new arrival/family member.
